Oman Air and SalamAir Suspend Services to Several Countries Over Safety Concerns

From Mahbubul Haque, Muscat (Oman):
In response to the recent escalation of regional tensions in the Middle East, two of Oman’s major airlines — SalamAir and Oman Air — have temporarily suspended several international flight routes. Both airlines cited restricted airspace access and heightened security concerns as the primary reasons behind the decision.

In an official statement released on Monday night, SalamAir announced the suspension of all flights to and from Iran, Iraq, Azerbaijan, and Qatar. The airline clarified that this was a precautionary measure, prompted by the current instability in the region and the potential risks to air travel safety.

In addition to suspended flights, delays on other scheduled routes are also expected, the airline said. Passengers have been advised to check the latest updates on their flights via www.SalamAir.com before heading to the airport. SalamAir further assured affected travelers that alternative travel arrangements will be communicated promptly.

Meanwhile, Oman Air has temporarily halted flights to Manama (Bahrain), Dubai, Doha (Qatar), and Kuwait. The airline also warned that other flights across its international network may experience delays due to longer rerouted paths required for safety.

Oman Air urged passengers to visit OmanAir.com to stay informed about the current status of their flights. The airline said it is closely monitoring the evolving situation and will issue timely updates as necessary.

Both airlines expressed their sincere appreciation for passengers’ patience and cooperation during this period of uncertainty.
