IAPH event at Flanders Meeting & Convention Center March 17-19, 2020

LONDON and ANTWERa world leader in critical informa tion, analytics and solutions, and the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH), the world’s global ports association, announce that the IAPH World Ports Conference will take place on March 17-19, 2020 in Antwerp, Belgium at the Flanders Meeting & Convention Center in the city centre. The Port of Antwerp is the Host Sponsor of this prestigious event.

Exploring the theme of Building Transparency, Predictability and Trust, the IAPH World Ports Conference will bring together executives from leading ports, their customers and stakeholders as well as regulators.

Following a highly successful first edition of the World Ports Sustainability Program Awards evening in Guangzhou, China in May 2019, the IAPH World Ports Conference will again feature a gala dinner awards ceremony. The ceremony will be held in the newly renovated Handelsbeurs building, which formerly housed the world’s oldest stock exchange.

“Our intention is to reach well beyond our 170-plus port members to the wider global maritime community,” said IAPH Managing Director Patrick Verhoeven. “Key issues around trade, digitalisation, sustainable port development and energy transition in shipping depend on all parties collaborating openly with each other. IAPH plans to use the outputs generated as the basis for future policymaking.”

“We have a long history of understanding the needs of maritime customers and this conference will draw upon that knowledge to explore the most pressing issues facing ports, vessel operators, regulators, local communities and more,” said Stuart Strachan, senior vice president, Maritime & Trade, IHS Markit. “Our aim is to ensure attendees from various backgrounds and geographies all benefit from the discussions in equal measure and gain a deeper understanding of how issues featured affect them and their organizations.”

The three-day conference will feature a mix of panel discussions, one-on-one conversations, hands-on workshops and specialised working events to showcase unique, practical insights from business leaders who have engaged in successful and sustainable cross-industry collaboration. The sessions will be divided into four tracks to deliver a clear vision for ports worldwide on energy transition, data collaboration, reputation management and business innovation.
