Divine Devotion: 8-Year-Old Mashekur’s Remarkable Qur’an Journey

BusinessToday24 Correspondent, Brahmanbaria: With determination, effort, and the right guidance, even a child can embrace the divine words of the Qur’an. An inspiring example of this truth is eight-year-old Mohammad Mashekur Rahman from the village of Dhitpur in Bijoynagar Upazila, Brahmanbaria. In just 13 months, he memorized the entire Qur’an, becoming a full-fledged Hafiz at a remarkably young age.

Mashekur is a student at the Hazrat Shah Jalal (R.) International Hifzul Quran Sunnia Madrasa, located in Ichapura Union of Bijoynagar. His father, Mohammad Dulal Miah, is employed overseas. Mashekur is the second among four siblings, and his family is overwhelmed with pride and gratitude.

His uncle, Mohammad Billal Miah, expressed his joy, saying, “My brother’s son has memorized the entire Qur’an in a short span of time. We are thankful to Allah and to the teachers who guided him. We seek the prayers of the nation so he may become a great Islamic scholar in the future.”

The madrasa’s founder and director, Mawlana Hafiz Qari Kamal Uddin, stated, “From the very beginning, we have been focused on attentive, student-centered teaching. As a result, we are consistently seeing young and talented Huffaz emerging every year.”

Established in January 2022, the institution currently accommodates 95 students in both residential and daycare-based Hifz and Nurani programs. The madrasa is operated by a team of five instructors and is monitored by CCTV around the clock. It has already received awards at both the local and district levels for excellence in Qur’anic education.

Mashekur’s accomplishment adds to a growing list of extraordinary child Huffaz around the globe.

In Nigeria, 4-year-old Muiz Amin from Lagos memorized the entire Qur’an at just 4 years and 4 months of age, astonishing the Islamic world.

In London, 11-year-old British-Bangladeshi girl Humaira completed her Hifz in only 11 months, garnering attention from the wider community.

From Egypt’s Faiyum region, 5-year-old Yusuf rose to international media coverage after becoming a Hafiz at such a young age.

Bangladesh, too, has seen remarkable feats. In Kishoreganj, 6-year-old Shihab memorized the Qur’an in 11 months. In Rajshahi’s Bagha Upazila, 7-year-old Tahmina Akter became a Hafiza, while in Comilla, two brothers—Mahin and Fahim—completed their Hifz together, drawing joy and admiration from across the country.

These stories serve as powerful reminders that age is no barrier when it comes to memorizing the Qur’an. What matters most is intention, discipline, and proper guidance. Young Mashekur Rahman of Brahmanbaria now stands as a beacon of inspiration—not only for his family but for the entire nation.
