Legal Hurdles Cleared: Salah Uddin-Azim-Akbar Panel Takes Charge of BSAA

From Our Staff Correspondent, Chattogram: Ending a long-standing legal battle and a period of anticipation, the newly elected board of the Bangladesh Shipping Agents’ Association (BSAA) for the 2025–2027 term has officially taken office.
On Monday, all legal hurdles were cleared as the final petition in the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court was withdrawn, paving the way for the new committee to assume leadership.
Following Section 25 of the Trade Organizations Rules and High Court directives, the Election Board officially announced the final results on April 20. On the same afternoon, the newly elected leaders formally took charge from the outgoing committee. With the notification from the Election Board, this board now holds full authority to manage BSAA operations.
The new leadership has committed to enhancing the dynamism of the country’s major seaports and working tirelessly to protect the interests of local businesses in the global shipping trade.
The resolution of the deadlock in this vital organization, a driving force for the nation’s import-export trade, has brought a sense of relief to stakeholders.
Captain Md. Salah Uddin Chowdhury of Naf Marine Services leads the new board as Chairman. The Senior Vice Chairmen are Azim Rahim Chowdhury (KMC Shipping Line) and Md. Ali Akbar (Seven Seas Shipping Lines). Captain Mohammad Alauddin Al Azad and Mohammad Mashiul Alam have assumed roles as Vice Chairmen.
Thirteen directors were elected in the General Category: Captain Mohammad Ali, Anjan Mazumder, Mohammad Shafiul Alam, Nur Un Nabi, S.M. Anamul Karim, Mohammad Didarul Alam Chowdhury, Mohammad Abdul Kuddus, Md. Anwar Hossain Khan (Hasan), A.T.M. Zahirul Islam, Kazi Mansur Uddin, Sarfraz Kader, Md. Anwarul Kabir Kamrul, and Akib Hasnat.
Additionally, six representatives from the Associate Category joined the committee: Masud Ahmed, Mohammad Shahin, Md. Humayun Kabir Patwary, Farhad Alam Chowdhury, Muammar Ahmad, and Md. Mansur Ali.
This new leadership in the shipping sector is expected to play a pivotal role in increasing port efficiency and modernization.
