In the landscape of specialized medical care in South Asia, the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT), PAKISTAN stands as a beacon of hope. Central to its mission of providing free, world-class treatment is Professor Dr. Ali Asghar Lanewala, a renowned expert who is transforming pediatric nephrology in the region.

As the Head of the Pediatric Nephrology Department at SIUT, Dr. Lanewala has dedicated his career to the complex field of children’s kidney diseases. After completing his MBBS at the Aga Khan University in 1995, he pursued extensive training in the United States, earning American Board certifications in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and Nephrology.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Lanewala is a distinguished educator and researcher. Since 2013, he has mentored and trained over 20 specialists, significantly expanding the pool of pediatric nephrologists in Pakistan. His scholarly contributions include more than 50 research papers published in peer-reviewed journals, and he played a pivotal role in developing national guidelines for treating childhood Nephrotic Syndrome.

Dr. Lanewala also holds a profound interest in biomedical ethics, serving as a faculty member at the Center of Biomedical Ethics and Culture (CBEC). His leadership extends internationally as a counselor for the International Pediatric Nephrology Association (IPNA) representing South and East Asia. His work continues to ensure that the youngest patients receive not only the most advanced medical care but also the most ethical and compassionate treatment possible.
